Recently our company in the UK received an order to outfit more than a hundred SCANIA trucks for a long time customer, ASDA (WalMart), This is a large grocery distributor with tail lift trucks that after having used the product for about seven years now ordered SCANIA trucks with the ADVERC BM installed at the assembly plant. The ADVERC BM is a solution for the persistent industry problems with batteries in general.
It is a well-known fact that trucks and other vehicles that use batteries as an energy source for other than just starting engines have persistent problems leading to solutions that are more or less acts of desperation.
Freightliner for instance when introducing the Century Class trucks offered a electrical system that isolated one battery (very expensive) to be used for dome lights and other services while the starting batteries were protected. Acts of desperation. Did not work. Because the basic problems with battery charging had not been solved but as usual worked around.

The picture shows you one of the new Scania trucks to be outfitted with the ADVERC Battery Management systems. This is the latest model still at the assembly plant. It is intended for a delivery fleet using tail-lifts.

The split-charge Diode (blocking diode).
Recently trucking company owner operators installed a heating and cooling system, which separated the starter batteries from the user batteries using a diode bridge separator. Practically all the charging disappeared and the drivers now had to idle their engines all night in fear of not being able to start their engines the next morning. I quote from ADVERC's literature:
Blocking diodes are loved and hated. Whilst battery charging is automatic, often with a provision for battery dedication e.g. for engine starting etc, there can be as much as 1volt drop across the diode. This is a disaster for battery charging employing conventional voltage regulation and machine sensed alternators. Blocking diodes should never be used in these circumstances.

The ADVERC BM can be piggy backed onto any existing internal alternator regulator. See next picture as well.
